TL DR Unbound Thresh isn't as bad as you think, and his human transformation is basically the best execution that Riot ever do and the fact it got this much hate confuses me when Vayne was IMO worse and Shyvana quite literally just become a sexy babe. Unbound Thresh is a good evolution which doesn't ruin his character at all and the fact that people were really mad at this really confused me, when unnatural development like Vayne exist where she basically goes 180 out of nowhere, but maybe it makes sense design wise bc her new white outfit blend her more to the darkness of night and the alucard glasses give her more AD or something. The Unbound Thresh skin will only be available for a few days after the event, on July 29th, and it will be accessible for purchase with event tokens. and when it comes to Thresh it can be especially painful to see players. Thresh having this human like face sometimes doesn't ruin his lore at all, and him evolving into the trickster archetype is a natural evolution of his story, he is a sadistic bastard that like to torture people and now that he can go outside of the shadow dome he trick people into becoming his servant/slave/tortured subject with his handsome face and also probably for creating a cult. Regarding him not being a "Monster", Thresh is still a monster in the night of the inn you could see him in his monster form in the shadow where Bort can't really see him well and in the shadow he cast when light hit him from the side.
This is probably the reason that the skin is called.
Viego's death meant that the latter was not bound to him anymore.
